Launching the Greater Manchester Music Export Office!

Greater Manchester has long been celebrated as a global hub for music, renowned for its vibrant scene that spans legendary bands, pioneering artists, and iconic festivals. This rich musical heritage continues to shape generations while driving economic growth and cultural vitality across the region.

It has been announced that the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) officially launches the Greater Manchester Music Export Office—the UK’s first dedicated Music Export Office—backed by a £300,000 investment. This landmark initiative aims to elevate local talent onto the global stage, fostering a thriving and sustainable music ecosystem.

The new office delivers on a key recommendation from the Greater Manchester Music Commission, which identified the need for a dedicated organisation to support artists, venues, and freelancers. By championing local talent and connecting artists with international markets, the office sets a new benchmark for industry support.

In 2023, UK music exports soared to a record-breaking £4.6 billion, with Greater Manchester playing a crucial role. This initiative further strengthens the region’s contribution, showcasing the power of music to drive economic prosperity and enhance the area’s global profile.

The Greater Manchester Music Export Office will forge strategic partnerships, offer talent development programs, and expand opportunities both at home and abroad. Collaborations with major events such as The Great Escape and Amsterdam Dance Event will provide Greater Manchester artists with international exposure while attracting world-class talent to local stages.

This launch solidifies Greater Manchester’s position as a music capital—bold, innovative. With a commitment to nurturing talent and amplifying the region’s musical influence, the Greater Manchester Music Export Office is set to shape the sound of generations to come.
